We ❤ Yokohama
Did you know?
Yokohama (横浜) literally means “horizontal beach”
Yokohama (横浜), is the second-largest city in Japan by population. It is the capital city of Kanagawa Prefecture.
Yokohama has a rich history, containing one of the first harbours in Japan to have opened up to foreign trade after the Edo Era. This led to the internationalization and prosperity of the city.
Yokohama is a popular travel destination due to its ideal location and proximity to the ocean, and offers its visitors unique sightseeing, world-class shopping, and delicious dining options.
In this article, we will showcase a bond between Yokohama and Mumbai – considered to be sister cites.
The City of Yokohama: Mumbai Representative Office is established to strengthen the ties between Yokohama and India including Mumbai, one of Yokohama’s sister cities. The main aim is to attract Indian businesses & companies to Yokohama and function as a communication channel & a support centre for them. In this way it would lead to promotion of trade, business and economic exchange between Yokohama and India. Also as an added incentive for these companies is the Financial support that will be provided from the Yokohama City Government. In addition, the Mumbai Representative Office also assists local companies in Yokohama to establish business with Indian companies, by researching and providing information on Indian market and industries.
It also conducts and co-ordinates business missions to Yokohama. These are tailored to specific business interests and include tours of business facilities, project sites and government offices. It also explores the possibility of international technical co-operation with Indian cities including Mumbai in the field of infrastructure building. It also attracts Indian tourism to Yokohama by increasing awareness about Yokohama city and participating in travel fairs and exhibitions.
Yokohama – from my perspective is an all round destination, that provides something for everyone – “Leisure” or “Business”. I have been visiting Yokohama since 2 decades now and have seen it growing year on year – The pace which I couldn’t catch-up in my personal growth.
I am really impressed with the mutual promotion that Yokohama has planned making sister cities as a concept.
